About
Real Estate For Dogs is part of a larger mission of helping both dogs and people live more fulfilling lives.
I’m Andrew Ledford The Dog Training Real Estate Guy.
If you see me training a dog in your neighborhood, come up and say Hi. There is a good chance you will be a grate training distraction and your neighbor I’m working with, I’m sure, will be happy to chat with you as well.
A little about me.
I was born and raised in Southern California, where I have spent my entire life working and managing businesses. Over the years, I have owned my own business and consulted on a variety of dog property projects. My consulting work has included helping startup in-home dog sitting businesses get off the ground, converting equestrian properties into dog rescue facilities, and transforming property use and zoning from Light Industrial to kennels. These diverse projects have given me a broad perspective on the unique needs and challenges involved in animal care and property management
Through my extensive experience in training dogs for a multitude of tasks and activities, I developed a philosophical system for guiding human behavior. This system is rooted in the principle that changing a dog’s behavior involves changing human behavior. The insights gained from this principle are highly relevant to real estate, particularly when it comes to changing where you live and selling a property. Teaching people about dogs involves addressing the complexities of behavioral inertia, commitment, intellect, and emotions. These are the same experiences we encounter whenever we decide to make significant changes in our lives, such as deciding to sell a house.
My insight is derived from a lifetime of working with a wide variety of people, including fortune 500 executives and celebrities. Throughout my life, I have also worked with countless dogs, each with their own unique needs and personalities. In addition to my professional work, I maintain an active interest in history, culture, archaeology, theology, art, and the narratives that have shaped Western Civilization. As you can see, I am interested in both ethology and ethnology, which some people may think of as being at odds with each other. These interests inform and enrich my approach to both dog training and real estate.
A few notable past projects include developing the Seal Beach Animal Shelter’s first dog training and rehabilitation program. The first dog to go through the program was a particularly forceful pitbull. He would bite the volunteer’s feet and pull off their shoes. The overall program was designed to help shelter dogs become more adoptable by improving their behavior and social skills. Additionally, I co-developed pet therapy programs for several hospitals, including the Veteran’s Hospital in the San Fernando Valley, Del Amo Hospital, and Torrance Memorial Hospital. These programs used the therapeutic benefits of animal interaction to help patients in specific areas. One of the more interesting projects was conducting a research project using dog assisted therapy in stroke recovery. We also had programs that were quite beneficial in helping people in the psychiatric wards of hospitals. Our programs directly assisted patients’ recovery, including developing psychomotor skills, social skills, verbal behavior, and their overall well-being.
In summary, my life and career have been dedicated to understanding and improving the relationships between humans and animals. Whether through consulting on property projects, developing training programs, or exploring the rich tapestry of history and culture, I strive to bring a deeper understanding and positive change to the lives of those I work with.
